Nestled in the highlands at an altitude of 1750 meters, Bingdao Village boasts the ideal conditions for tea cultivation with ample sunshine, rainfall and humidity. This unique geographical location and ecosystem have contributed to the development of the highly sought-after tea.
According to statistics, the oldest tea tree in Bingdao can be dated back to 500 years, with 4,954 trees over a century old in the village center. Despite a limited annual spring production of only 3 tons, the output of tea is scarce, with only a few hundred kilograms produced each year. Recognized as a national-level fine variety in 1984, Bingdao tea is a Mengku big-leaf tree variety that can grow up to 4-30 meters in height. The leaves are thick and soft with a strong tea fragrance. Spring tea buds and leaves contain 1.7% amino acids, 33.8% tea polyphenols, 4.1% caffeine, and 18.2% total catechins, making it highly astringent and sweet, and an excellent choice for Pu-erh tea processing.
